STARS PROGRAM 2024-2025

The Student Training and Rewards System (STARS) is a voluntary program designed to motivate Temple University student organization leaders through a curated curriculum. Participation and completion do not access an organization’s quality but provide the opportunity to gain tools for organizational success and professional development.

Featured throughout this page are student organizations that participate in the STARs Program while actively creating positive change.

STARS COMPETENCIES

  • Students with explore their strengths, values, perspectives, and lived experiences to develop a sense of self, purpose, effective leadership, and understanding to successfully contribute to and lead their organization.

  • Students will gain knowledge an tools to set and achieve realistic goals, maintain accountability within their organizational culture, and effectively collaborate for their organization’s success.

  • Students will develop critical thinking skills, learn & practice various listening and communication tools, strengthen confidence in self-expression and learn how to bring together multiple perspectives to build empathy and market their organization.

  • Students will be challenged to understand and incorporate both local and global perspectives. THey will experience the many traditions, cultures, identities and approaches that successful and inclusive leaders respect and embrace.

  • Students will learn the importance of being an active and engaged citizen of their various communities. They will consider ways to lead their organization through the lens of social responsibility.

What does my organization need to do to meet STAR Requirements?

    • Complete Re-Registration

    • Complete “Student Organization Administration” Course

    • Have a representative attend 5 Town Halls per academic year.

    • To receive TSG Allocations: Attend allocations workshop (recording that every attendee will have)

    • Complete 1 STAR requirements.

    • An officer must attend 2 workshops from the following competencies and write a reflection:

      • Self-Authorship & Leadership

      • Organizational Health

      • Communication & Marketing

      • Diversity & Inclusion.

      • Community Engagement, Service, & Philanthropy.

    • End of Semester Reflection.

    • Submit Transition Plan (End of Spring)

    • Complete 1 & 2 STAR Requirements.

    • An officer must attend 4 workshops from the STARs competencies and write a reflection.

    • Have an Event Planning Meeting regarding an upcoming event with a member of the Student Involvement Team once a semester.

      • Schedule via Bookings.

    • Complete 1, 2, & 3 STAR Requirements.

    • Do an external community service event with at least 5 group members and write a reflection.

    • Collaborate with a 1, 2 or 3 STAR organization on a GBM or small event and write a reflection.

    • Complete EOY Report.

STAR Benefits

Registered Student Organizations must also attend an allocations workshop in order to receive allocations from Temple Student Government.

    • Reserve Space on campus.

    • Temple Student Government Allocations: $500/Semester

    • Reserve Space on campus.

    • Temple Student Government Allocations: $1,000/Semester

    • Reserve Space on campus.

    • Temple Student Government Allocations: $1,500/Semester

    • 1 free event room set up in the HGSC.

      • excluding linen, sound, lights, catering.

    • Eligibility to apply for village office space.

    • ½ off Game Room reservation for up to three hours once a semester.

      • $17.50/hr

    • Reserve Space on campus.

    • Temple Student Government Allocations: $2,500/Semester

    • 1 free event room set up in the HGSC.

      • excluding linen, sound, lights, catering.

    • Eligibility to apply for village office space.

    • Free Game Room reservation for up to three hours once a semester.

      • $17.50/hr

    • 2 hour advanced SCO reservation request on 1st study day of prior semester.
